The present research work aimed at formulating Controlled Release Drug Delivery System in the form of floating tablet for Alzheimer’s disease. The available treatments in the form of conventional dosage form stays in the stomach for 1.5- 2 hrs and passes to small intestine where it is absorbed within 3-5 hrs. Therefore, it is very difficult to regulate release retardation and stomach retention of drug for longer period of time. Gastro-retentive drug delivery system is useful in localizing the drug at certain site in the body and adhere to the mucous lining of the stomach. Among the myriad approaches, one such approach is floating drug delivery system (FDDS) and coupling this delivery system with bioadhesion will enable it in formulating floating mucoadhesive tablet which will enhance the drug release from the formulation.
