ABSTRACT

In the present time allopathic medicine is preferred because it gives quick relief and easy availability but, along with serious side effects and higher cost. In case of some diseases allopathic medicine, only relief symptoms and do not cure the disease. Therefore a new approach is generated to reduce or overcome the side effects of the drug and cure the disease. Cetrizen is the most commonly used allopathic medicine for the treatment of the common cold and curcumin is used as Anti-inflammatory, Immunomodulatory and antiseptic agents since ancient time. However curcumin is poorly water soluble so we will improve its solubility by preparing solid dispersion of curcumin. Therefore, we hypothesized to make a combination of the herbal drug curcumin and allopathic drug cetrizen to treat allergic rhinitis with reduced side effects. In the proposed work we aimed to develop bilayered tablets of cetirizine and curcumin combination to enhance therapeutic effect in both acute and chronic case with less side effect, which can be used for quick relief of symptoms as well as for chronic allergic rhinitis.
