ABSTRACT

Cancer refers to a disease characterized by abnormal growth of cells that divide uncontrollably and have the ability to invade and destroy normal body tissue. Cancer is the leading cause of death in India and worldwide. Thanks to improvements in cancer screening, survival rates for cancer treatment and prevention are increasing every day. Gamma-Oryzanol is a growth-promoting substance found in grains and isolated from rice bran oil, the components of which are valued for their anti-cancer properties. Skin cancer cell lines were treated with γ-oryzanol, using MTT assay. Result were promising in growth inhibition of cancerous cells.
